Uncle Joe's Racing was formed in 1989 by Los Angeles disc jockey/author Joe Benson for competition and promotional appearances throughout Southern California.

October 18-20, 1996: Uncle Joe, Marty Fiolka and Paul Pfanner
drove the Uncle Joe's Racing 300ZX Nissan in the 1996
SCCA 3-hour Endurance Race at Buttonwillow Raceway near
Bakersfield. After staying within a half-of-a-lap of the series
champion for the first two hours of the race, the Uncle Joe's team
suffered a relatively minor mechanical failure that took them out
of the race. Though disappointed by their early exit, the three amigos
had a great time - as did their team of crew chief Scott Hall, Jan and
Jenna Benson, Deanna Honsowetz, Gordon Clark and Mark Jones.

October 4, 1996: Uncle Joe did a 25-mile lap (at speeds up to 80 mph)
around the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge course with
Ivan "Ironman" Stewart before the race. Ivan's BF Goodrich
tires easily held up to the added torture of Benson in the passenger's
seat. "It was an amazing trip just watching Ivan dance on the gas and
brake pedals as we flew over hills and gullies," Benson enthused.
"Even though we were sometimes cornering on just two wheels,
Ivan's ProTruck rode smoother than my Saleen Mustang on the 405 freeway!"
