2004 CalClub California Speedway race
January 31, 2004: J.B. drove the Jim Sleeper-prepared Uncle Joe's Nissan 300ZX to an outstanding third place finish in the big CalClub SCCA road race at California Speedway in Fontana. A surprise early morning rain shower ended just before qualifying began at 8am, and Unc started 28th when the green flag flew at 11am. There was a real mix of cars in Joe's group — everything from ultra-fast Porsches to Hondas and Mazda RX7s. The 21-turn, 2.8 mile course utilizing half of the 2-mile super speedway and the very tough infield course proved ultra fast. Joe was reaching speeds of 140mph in the big corners and he was last seen picking up the 3rd place plaque right before a detour to the tire shop. Kudos to the team — Jim, Casey and Dan — for an outstanding effort! Here's the first batch of photos.
