Uncle Joe Benson racing at the 6/06 California Speedway SCCA races.
June 2 - 4, 2006: J.B. raced the Jim Sleeper-prepared Uncle Joe's Nissan 300ZX to a third place in the Super production class on the California Speedway infield road course just as NHRA Division 7 Super Gas Champion Randy Balough was rocketing down the brand new California Speedway Auto Club Dragway in his Uncle Joe's Racing Super Gas Corvette! That's one long-ass sentence and it was one hot-ass weekend (with temps over 100 degrees both days). Rock & Roll!
(Photos by Dennis Baer and Jan Benson.)
Uncle Joe and Bob "Fireball" Spencer's cars were garaged
next to each other out of the blazing sun.
Fireball lost in thought before the race
as Jim Sleeper makes last minute adjustments.
Taking the green flag!
Passing a VW in the infield and a Miata on the front straight.
Now that's a trophy!
