Uncle Joe Benson at work & play at the 2004 NHRA Winternationals.
February 12 - 13, 2005: Even though the first big NHRA drag meet of the year was met with torrential downpours, defending NHRA Division 7 Super Gas Champion Randy Balough, driver of the Uncle Joe's Racing Super Gas Corvette, came within 2/100 of a second of winning the NHRA CARQUEST Winternationals Drag Races! Of course there were Uncle Joe Meet & Greet sessions on a rainy Saturday and sunny Sunday at the ARROW 93 booth, as well as several hundred other people racing at the at the Fairplex in Pomona. But Randy started the season even bigger than he finished last year!

Working his way through six rounds of competition,
NHRA Division 7 Super Gas Champion Randy Balough
received assistance from his son/crew chief Travis,
and encouragement from Uncle Joe.
Longtime friends and racing partners enjoying the moment.
Right where we belong on a rainy Saturday —
in the middle of the whole show!
An extended family gathering.
A cool, crisp, sunny Sunday — perfect for racing!
With Randy on board,
it's an official Uncle Joe's Racing Meet & Greet!
An extended-family gathering.
Hanging with the iconic Torch in a place
where even the traffic directors wear cool caps!
Looks like Joe's next ride!
Evidently the earplugs really help
when he starts telling stories.
