Uncle Joe Benson vs. Chris Titus at the 2001 NHRA 50th Ann. Nationals. July 6, 2001: The NHRA 50th Anniversary Drag Races at the Fairplex in Pomona. The highlight for Uncle Joe's Racing (and many of the 49,000 in attendance Friday night) was clearly Joe's exhibition race with Christopher Titus (star of Fox TV's "Titus"). The crowd went wild during introductions, cheering on J.B. (OK, a few Titus fans could be heard from their luxury suites). When J.B. put the hammer down and blazed a trail of over 154mph in 8.6 seconds on the 1/4 mile, there was no looking back! Did the car make a difference? No, both speedsters drove identically prepared 650 horsepower Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School dragsters. The fastest man at the lights took home the glory! Will Benson vs. Titus return this Fall?
