Uncle Joe Benson at work & play at the California Speedway NASCAR race - February 2005.
Since its opening in 1997, Joe Benson has been the voice of the California Speedway. In that role, he handles the master of ceremonies duties for race day, as well as play-by-play announcing.
February 25 - 27, 2005: This year's NASCAR Nextel Cup Automobile Club 500 at the California Speedway was huge! Joined again by his partner Jim Mueller, Uncle Joe was everywhere handling the announcing for the first big race of the regular season. Steve Park won the NASCAR Craftsman American Racing Wheels 200 Friday night, becoming one of a very few to win in every major NASCAR division. Rain showers near the end of Mark Martin's Saturday evening win of the Stater Brothers 300 only delayed his record 46th NASCAR Busch Series victory. And Greg Biffle's narrow win over Jimmie Johnson in Sunday's Auto Club 500 marked his third consecutive trip to Victory Lane in three California Speedway events! Wild times indeed!

Afterward, J.B., Mark and car owner Jack Roush
took a moment in Gatorade Victory Lane.
