Uncle Joe Benson at work & play at the NASCAR races at California Speedway - 4/2003.
Since it's opening in 1997, Joe Benson has been the voice of the California Speedway. In that role, he handles the master of ceremonies duties for race day, as well as doing play-by-play announcing with his old friend Shawn Parr.
April 25 - 27, 2003: This year's NASCAR Winston Cup Automobile Club 500 at the California Speedway in Fontana was hailed as the best ever at the Speedway. Uncle Joe hosted a couple of Fan Forums with Jimmie Johnson and Cal Wells Saturday, and was joined by Shawn Parr in the Gatorade Victory Lane. Sunday's festivities included the Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, waving the green flag to get the race started, and a new winner, Kurt Busch, 500 miles later.
